How we choose the best units
This list is an editorial guide built around role value, formation fit, and our currently tracked roster. It is not an official developer ranking. A balance update, new unit, or changed summon pool can move a recommendation quickly.
We judge a unit by the problem it solves: holding the front, applying safe damage, creating melee pressure, or reaching a distant fight. Rarity and pull chance matter for availability, but neither replaces formation coverage.
Best frontline anchors
Immortal
Immortal is one of our current S-tier anchors and a premium choice for the front of a balanced formation. Use it to protect ranged pressure and give the commander time to issue a new order.
Spartan
Spartan is the other top tracked frontline recommendation. If you own one, build the rest of the squad to exploit the space it creates rather than stacking every expensive frontline unit beside it.
Best melee pressure
Samurai
Samurai is an S-tier pressure pick in our current editorial data. It is most useful when another unit or the commander prevents the formation from collapsing during the engagement.
Berserker
Berserker fills a similar aggressive job. Treat it as pressure, not as an excuse to ignore protection or timing.
Best ranged option
Crossbowman
Crossbowman is our established A-tier ranged recommendation. It contributes while a frontline holds contact and makes a balanced squad less dependent on the commander for damage.
Flaming Archers
Flaming Archers is marked as new and still being checked in our roster. Watch the live game and our update tracker before treating it as a settled replacement.
Best mobile option
Scout Rider
Scout Rider is the current dedicated mobile choice in our tracked list. It helps formations that repeatedly arrive late, struggle to contest open ground, or need a faster response to a lane change.
Best accessible units
Shieldman, Spearman, Mercenary, and Archer remain useful when Star Limit or collection depth matters. Shieldman is a simple screen, Spearman adds frontline reach, Mercenary fills space, and Archer supplies an accessible ranged slot.
Three ways to build around a top unit
| Core unit | Add next | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Immortal or Spartan | Ranged damage + mobility | Four slow anchors |
| Samurai or Berserker | Durable screen + ranged support | Unprotected all-in pressure |
| Crossbowman | Two layers of protection | Exposed Hold positions |
| Scout Rider | Stable center | Letting mobility split the army |
